that few minutes of happiness (:

my mid-day perks when im not too busy in the studio are the little chats i have with a few stall vendors at adam's road food market.
i call those few minutes when i queue to buy food, my few minutes of happiness.
firstly introducing my za cai fan uncle, who calls me his god-daughter and treats me my meals for $2 every time.
he would always tell me 'kai xin jiu hao' and 'uncle hen teng ni leh'
he taught me what it means to find joy in simple things, live life and to care genuinely for those who matter (:
then its the fishball noodle uncle, both husband and wife used to be tending the stall, but think they've opened a new stall and now aunty is at the other one.
this is uncle Jeff, always loud, happy and welcoming,
he would call me 'ah anne ah!' and can remember my order of the ba chor mee, mee kia or mee pok, little bit chilli, no vinegar.
what i like about him is that he likes me all the same, greets me the same even if i havent been patronizing the stall for many weeks. some vendors give you that stare, Jeff is not like that (:
and I also have my favourite cheng teng stall husband and wife, nice and cool husband with a very sweet wife. They know how much i adore their cheng teng cause i used to have them all the time in the past.
me and jamie calls their tao suan, the legendary tao suan cause they never had it ready during lunch time and we'd never gotten a chance to buy it. hahah. so there was once i went in the evening and bought the tao suan! and yes, lengendary it is, sedap! (:
oh and last but not the least, the sugarcane drink stall that sells bottled chinchao and other drinks. lovvve the chin chao cause the jellies are like long and wormy, and you can slurp them up with the straw still.
and what attracts me there, other than the hot weather and the nice drink, is the nice lady, who has amazing memory and remembers my name, when i cant even remember when i ever did tell her my name. sometimes, some distance may seem unnecessary, but extra miles blesses others in the most amazing ways. (:
yup, quite amazing to think that there are so many many stalls in adams and i probably only eat or drink from these few stalls every day of my life. heh, call me boring, but i'd rather eat these food all the time, in exchange for that few minutes of happiness every day. (:
