Love and be loved in return.

today in class, mr chia started telling us about how his dad never used to give him a pat on his head or back to commend him for the things he achieved. when he graduated from his university, his dad only asked him if doing what he did would earn him big bucks.
mr chia said 'its really important to give your children and students a pat on their head to tell them theyve done well.' .. 'but till this day, ive never received this from my dad.' .. "as i picked up his ashes to put into the urn, i thought to myself, 'one day i would become like this, my achievements, my possessions would become nothing.'"
his words and the way he said them left a deep impression.
i wrote down these sentences in my notes as he was speaking,
"Our experiences or what we yearn for in our childhood often shapes what kind of individuals we become or want to become and what we value."
"Dont wait to show love, because you'll never know when it'll be too late."
I reflected about my own life and i saw my priorities all messed up.
its like i knew what they should be, but they're just not in that order in my life right now.
I saw that, for many months or even years, Anne has been taking for granted what actually matters most to her, her relationships. with God, with her family and with her friends. and she knows she doesnt want to wait till the day she regrets to do something about it.
my simple motto for the year would be to
'Love and be loved in return.'
I want to show the people i love and care for, that i do,
with a little bit more effort, a little bit more time, a little bit more kindness and a little bit more love.
Love and be loved in return.
