Another National Day Weekend

Yes it's another national day weekend spent in Klang for Eunice and I.
It's probably been about 3 years since we've decided to be very patriotic Singaporeans who travels out of the country on national day.
Haven't watched the national day parade, saw the fireworks, said the pledge or sung the national anthem in years. It's a little like you've missed your friend's birthday celebrations for a few consecutive years.

Although 9th August for the past three years weren't about fireworks, parades and anthems, it was about delighted faces, endearing hugs and countless little welcoming shouts of "jiejie Anne!"s (:
2014 is the 10th year since I first visited Good Samaritan home, and all I can say is gsh will always be home. I watch the toddlers grow to become preschoolers, the children to teenagers, the teenagers to adults. The kids grow up so quickly, too quickly sometimes, and it's always amazing to see what a year or just half a year can do to them. They grow taller (and sometimes fatter), they mature, fight less, get into trouble less, they manja less. It's such a rewarding journey (though we daren't claim any of it's credits) to see the children grow to become more confident, more secure and happier individuals. With that said, in the past 10 years, they too have seen me through my teen days till now, and I consider myself lucky enough to have retained my title of "jiejie".

It's been a joy and a blessing to be able to be a part of their lives, and have them as a part of my life. Cause in big and small ways, I know my life wouldn't be the same without these precious ones. So here's a little note from the me now to some of those closest to my heart...
Dearest Rachael, you're God's gift of a 妹妹 I've always dreamed of having. God never makes mistakes in who He places in our lives and for us, I believe we shared a special connection the first time we met. Growing up (and old) with you over the years have been such a joy. I see so much of myself in you, so I'll take the chance to tell you what I would have said to the 14 year old me if I was given the opportunity to. "Love yourself. And be good to yourself. You're more than the world thinks you to be, and sometimes more than what you think yourself to be. Be bold, be confident, compare less, laugh and think of good things often. Good things aren't difficult to find, cause even though sometimes we lose sight, the best gifts in life, we already have."
You're such a blessing to me, and even though you've grown up so much since, you'll always be my darling little sister.

To my favourite Hannah banana (: please don't grow up so quickly. I'd willingly let you pull and tug at my hair for many more years. #bigsacrificereally
Thank you dear girl, because your love warms my heart so much. You don't know how much your little note of "I y-ove you" means to me. Wished I had more time to spend with you, love you very very much.
And to my most 男人 8 year old boy, Bryan. You're the kind of man I'd want to marry my daughter to. Because every girl needs a man who would tap you gently in a game of hit-the-hand-scissors-papers-stones just because you're a girl, and one who would tell you it's alright to eat what you want to (even if you might have a pimple breakout after) but yet knows you'll probably feel guilty or horrible eating all of it. so he'll eat some or most of it for you. Thank you for showing me that love is a verb, cause even though you dont say it, your love for others overflows through your actions.

And of course to dear Philip, the witty one. We will have a rematch in our flip the cards memory game the next time I'm back, #competitiveandimmature姐anne
Thank you for being my information provider, I always get to hear so many interesting, absurd and funny stories about what goes on that my eyes do not get to witness hahaha. A sit down with you, over stories or games is always one of the fondest memories I bring back home.

And lastly, to the one who's likely the busiest when the Chua's are in town. I must say this #ifinallycaughtaproperphotowithyou! (: for driving us around, carrying our bags, preparing our rooms and many other things you probably do for us without telling us, thank you Jeremy! Though we can hardly get time to catch up proper, cause in gsh #youcanneversitalone, I'm still glad I got to see you! You're very dear to us, and remember that the Chua's will always be your #no1fans!

A weekend of good food, rest and favourite people. National day holiday checked! ✔️

Happy birthday dear you (:

For the only one who stalks my blog even if for the longest time I've been too busy and lazy to blog about anything, thank you and I love you, and oh happy birthday ❤️

I thank God many many times over for you, and I've been so blessed by who you are to me and what you've given to me. The good times, the not so easy days, the joy, the fun, the nonsense, the shoulder to lean on, the hand to keep warm. For being the boyfriend, a best friend, my family, alongside with many other roles like mind reader, fashion consultant and food bin, Kamsahamnida! 😊 Thank you too for being my favourite pillar (don't have to hug random pillars no more), for bringing me on a holiday with your family, for sacrificing your actual birthday to participate in the fop choir, and for the little things like wiping the perspiration off my nose, tying my hair (noticing how I tie it too), rewatching shows you've already watched, cooking together and #veryimportant never posting any of my unglam pictures. Hehehe.

I look forward to the many more birthdays we would celebrate together. Blessed birthday dear, I love you! ❤️
