Happy Father's Day

To my mother, sister and brother, who in different ways played the role of the father to me in my life, I love you and Happy Father's Day. <3

Mummy, you've worked so hard to provide for the family. We live in comfort and now have in abundance, because of all you've sacrificed for us.

Eunice, you've seen me through good days and bad, given me advices, corrected me and stood by me. You've taught me values, built my character, just by being who you are.

People say fathers are the toys for their children and though daddy wasn't around to fling me in the air (you did it with a huge and hard pillow) or to play shark with me in the swimming pool, I'm glad there was you bro. Thank you for filling my years with fun and so much laughter.

And Daddy, for watching over us, I love you and I miss you. Happy Father's Day. (:

"Can I hug you?"

A student came up to me while I was having my lunch at Macdonald's last Saturday to say hello and bye.
He took a few steps with his father before turning back to say "can I hug you?", then he came and wrapped his arms around me (:

Such random gestures of love can do so much for teachers. It is appreciation, encouragement and inspiration. Appreciation for what we do, encouragement to continue it, and inspiration to do better.

It seems I'm unknowingly using the blog as a platform for journaling some of the precious moments in teaching. I remember a lecturer once said "A teacher reflects daily, the lesson, the teaching, the classroom, the children, and herself". Starting small myself, but I hope I get there one day :D
